Fun with Outdoor Advertising

So part of my marketing campaign for the 08-09 season is 3 billboards placed strategicaly around town. I know, three doesnt seem like that much, but we are a small town/small orchestra and its a bit of an experiment. The purpose of said billboard is for new subscriptions. We actually have a great balcony in the historic Palace Theater that for 5 concerts (4 classical) you can actualy get a season subscription for $38.

Seriously, how do we have only 2 subscribers in this section?!? The seats have the best acoustics in the house! (and you can get to the bathroom quicker during intermission!)

This past Monday, we did a little photo shoot at the theater for the background shot on the billboard. My ED did the photographer duties, and we had a father/son (only 2 actual subscribers for the section), a young college-age couple and myself (30ish single woman).

The 6 finalists

I would welcome any comments on these photos. I already have my favorite, E. We could do a color bar on one side and place all text on that, thereby making the copy far easier to read.

Any further developments and I'll add another post! The campaign runs from Aug 25-Oct 25.

Woes of Technology

So today's blog actually got written on a leagal pad! Ahh....the woes of being tied to your computer!

No internet connection?
Very hard to work!!!

So I am reading the Chronicle of Philantrhopy to pass the time....old school style---in actual news print! Oddly enough, I am on page 9, and every single article to this point has been about technology of some kind! One about educating the public via multimedia--video/audio used online. Another one was titled "From Paper to Podcasts?" What I know about podcasts could fin on the tip of a pin...the pointy end even. But no internet, so I can't even wikipedia it for more info. And what a great surprise, an actual article on blogging!

So we have the internet back thanks to our Office Manager Supreme(OMS)!

Just had to jump to it for a quick mailing out to the board. We are nearing the end of our fiscal year, and our Executive Director wanted to communicate some things about our budget for this fiscal year, and also communicate some things about music education. I will try to pilfer the article from him and post either a link to it, or I'll scan in the article for your perusal.

First Post - Purpose

So after all the harassment from my Father, I have decided to attempt this low tech way of communicating with others in the non-profit arts! My intent is to talk about current events that affect the non-profits, as well as the daily trials and tribulations of working for an arts organization!

More info to come!
